Molusi College, Ijebu Igbo Alumni, Sakiru Adebayo Wins $10,000 Prize For Literary Criticism | MarvelTvupdates

A literary scholar, Sakiru Adebayo has emerged winner of the 2022 edition of the Nigeria Prize for Literary Criticism founded and sponsored by Nigeria LNG Limited.

He’s an indigene of Ijebu Igbo and Alumni of Molusi College in ijebu igbo 03/09 Sets.

He’s also the head prefect boy 2009 sets of Molusi College Ijebu Igbo. He graduated from University of ibadan.

He was announced the winner at the ongoing Grand Award Night holding at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos.

The prize money was initially a million naira. Chairman of the prize’s Literary Board, Professor Akachi Ezeigbo, spoke on how Adebayo got crowned.

According to her, 87 critics submitted entries with three essays each. Ezeigbo, however, noted that most of the contestants did not adhere to guidelines.

According to her, 10 were eventually considered as they met the criteria, adding that they were published in reputable journals.

In his acceptance speech.

Adebayo said, 

“I’m very grateful to the judges for considering my entry worthy of the Nigeria Prize for Literary Criticism”.

He dedicated the award to his Principal at Molusi College, Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State, who, according to him, introduced him into criticism through how he took he another students through literary appreciation.

Winner of the Nigeria Prize for Literature will be announced soon at the event being attended by many dignitaries, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who will deliver the keynote address.
