According to reports, Chelsea’s negotiations with Benfica regarding the Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernandez have failed.
Following his heroics as Argentina’s Young Player of the Tournament at the 2022 World Cup, he was the subject of intense transfer speculation.
According to Cesar Luis Merlo, a journalist from South America, negotiations between Benfica and Chelsea have broken down. He tweeted:
“The deal to bring Enzo Fernández to Chelsea fell through: After several days of negotiations, Benfica stopped selling him outside the clause.
The Portuguese club demands that the English giants immediately fulfill the £106 million release clause for the player.
In order to circumvent financial fair play restrictions, the Blues had offered a deal in which they would pay the fee in three installments. Even though they have reportedly already submitted a bid of approximately £100 million, they have also maintained that they will not alter their current valuation.
