British Envoy To Nigeria Deletes Tweet Congratulating APC Gov. Candidate In Adamawa, Binani As ‘First Female Elected Governor’ | MarvelTvUpdates

The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Laing, has withdrawn her congratulatory message to the female governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed (Binani).

So far, Ahmadu Fintiri, governor of Adamawa and candidate of the PDP, is in the lead. While Fintiri has won in 13 local government areas, Binani has won in seven.

In the early hours of Monday, APC and PDP agents rejected the Fufore LGA result, alleging that the results were fabricated by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The result from Fufore is the only one left to be collated to conclude the exercise.

Meanwhile, Laing on Sunday congratulated Binani, suggesting that she had won the governorship race and thus become the first elected female governor in the country.

The envoy, who took to her verified Twitter handle, @CatrionaLaing1, wrote, “Great news! Huge congratulations to Aisha Binani. I hope you will be a trailblazer for other elected female Governors.”

She has however deleted the tweet.
