There is tension in the popular Lagos electronic market, Alaba as an explosion has been recorded.
It was not clear the cause of the exp osion which has sent thick black smoke into the air but traders in the popular market could be seen trying to move away from the spreading inferno just as calls were being placed to emergency responders to salvage the situation.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service in an update by its director, Margaret Adeseye, said that fire crew from Ojo, Sari-Iganmu and Ajegunle are “being turned back by angry mobs from performing their statutory duty but presently on standby.”
“The agency is consequently collaborating with security agents to address it,” she said.
