Federal Govt To Shut Eko Bridge For 40-Days Repair | MarvelTvUpdates

The Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, in conjunction with the Lagos State Government, has announced a temporary closure of the Alaka-Costain-Iganmu section of the Eko Bridge (inward Lagos Island) for another 40 days as from Sunday, July 23, 2023.

In a statement, the government said the closure was informed by the damage noticed on some parts of the bridge, which needed to be fixed urgently.

It stressed that any further delay in the repairs and replacement of some of the bridge members could undermine the integrity and structural stability of the entire bridge, which could have serious consequences on the motoring public.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Federal Controller of Works, Mrs.

Olukorede Kesha, during the opening of the Apongbon section of the bridge, had announced that intermittent closures would be carried out as the maintenance work progressed.

The closure, the statement said, would enable the contractor, Messrs Buildwell Plants and Equipment Industries Limited, carry out necessary repairs to restore the integrity of the bridge.

The statement said while the service lane leading to Iponri would be available, some alternative routes would be provided for motorists plying the route from Western Avenue and its environ.

Motorists are advised to cooperate with the traffic management team deployed to ensure smooth movement of vehicles, it added.
