Ex-Super Falcons Coach, Godwin Izilein, Dies At 81 | MarvelTvUpdates

Godwin Izilien, the former coach of serial African champions, Super Falcons, is dead. The coach, as gathered by our correspondent, died on Wednesday, February 7 (today) at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH). Details surrounding his death remains sketchy as at the time of this report.

Izilien led the Super Falcons to win the 2004 Women African Cup of Nations and has been a vocal voice in the Nigerian football ecosystem, always clamoring for the development of the game from the grassroots.

He was a former head coach of Bendel Insurance FC, trained in Germany as a football coach.

Until his demise, he coached several club sides in Nigeria, and was the coach of the then Mid-West team that played against Pele of Brazil in the unification Cup at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.
