Suspended lawmaker Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has described her suspension from the Senate as one that invalidates the principles of natural justice, fairness and equity.
According to her, her suspension does not withdraw my legitimacy as a senator.
Upon her suspension yesterday, she was warned by the Senate “That for the period of her suspension she be barred from presenting herself to the public locally and internationally as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
However in a statement on her Facebook handle, she insisted that she will continue to use her position as ‘Senator’ to serve her constituents.
The statement reads: “Against the culture of silence, intimidation and victim-shaming; my unjust suspension from the Nigerian Senate invalidates the principles of natural justice, fairness and equity.
“The illegal suspension does not withdraw my legitimacy as a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and I will continue to use my duly elected position to serve my constituents and country to the best of my ability till 2027 … and beyond.”
