Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse who treated the late singer llerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, has testified at the Coroner’s Court in Ikorodu, Lagos, detailing his last moments.
The nurse stated that on September 12, 2024, she was called by Ayobami Sodia (Spending) to treat Mohbad at his Lekki residence. She observed a swollen cut on his hand and administered a tetanus shot, followed by diluted paracetamol and a slow dose of ceftriaxone for infection.
However, Mohbad reacted negatively to the ceftriaxone injection, vomiting and developing goosebumps. His wife, Omowunmi, reassured Ogedengbe that this was a usual reaction, but his condition worsened.
In an attempt to get medication, the nurse and Spending rushed to a pharmacy, but upon their return, they found Mohbad preparing for hospital transport.
Due to vehicle unavailability and traffic, he was taken to the hospital on a motorcycle but was declared dead on arrival. Medical personnel hesitated to treat him, leading to further confusion. His body was later returned home, and a death certificate was obtained from the police station.
The Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has announced that the nurse and Spending will face prosecution for reckless and negligent acts.
However, musician Naira Marley, promoter Sam Larry, and others have been acquitted of any involvement. The case continues, with the next hearing scheduled for March 21.
