Veteran actor Olaiya Igwe has expressed deep regret over disappointing gospel singer Tope Alabi on her wedding day, describing it as one of his biggest life regrets.
In a recent interview with Baba Ibe TV, Igwe revealed that he had promised to lend his newly purchased Mercedes-Benz V-Boot to Tope Alabi and her husband, Soji, for their wedding.
However, he later backed out due to security concerns after experiencing a robbery incident in Ibadan.
“I had just bought the car after my movie ‘Ololade Mr Money’ became a hit. But after it was stolen and later recovered, I became paranoid. I was afraid the same thing might happen if I lent it out, so I stopped picking her calls a day before the wedding,” he admitted.
Despite seeking her forgiveness at a professional gathering in Ogun State, Igwe confessed that the guilt still lingers, especially as Tope Alabi has now acquired several luxury cars, while he struggles to afford one.
“She now has countless luxury cars, some of which I cannot afford. It still pains me that I disappointed her,” he lamented.
