Six Police Officers in Imo Arrested for Machete Assault on Student Over Phone Access

Six police personnel in Imo State have been paraded for assaulting a student with a machete after he refused to grant them access to his phone.

The personnel, who were caught on camera, are:

• Inspector Amadi Sunday
• Inspector Amajuoji Charlse
• Sgt Noachian Chinese
• Sgt Onwuka Emmanuel
• Cpl Nzewuodo Goodness
• Pc Emmanuel Chmezie

The Imo State Police Command has commenced the trial of these officers, who could face dismissal and prosecution if found guilty.

The Nigeria Police Force has declared it unlawful for officers to demand access to citizens’ phones without proper justification.

The incident, which was captured on video, shows the officers brutally assaulting the student, sparking widespread outrage.
