Atikori FC Edges Oke Agbo FC in Penalty Shootout to Win 2025 Orimolusi Football Cup (2nd Edition)

Ijebu Igbo Football Academy presents the 2nd Edition of the Orimolusi Football Cup Competition

On April 26, 2025, the tournament kick off

The much-anticipated Orimolusi Football Cup Competition concluded in grand style today at Shamsudeen Grammar School, Oke Agbo in Ijebu Igbo, after an exciting display of talent, unity, and community support.

The tournament, which featured all five major towns in Ijebu Igbo — Japara, Oke Sopen, Oke Agbo, Ojowo, and Atikori.

The tournament was proudly sponsored by two respected chiefs in Ijebu igbo kingdom: the Bobaselu of Ijebu Igbo Kingdom, Otunba Oluwatoyin Odueyungbo and the Mayegun of Ijebu Igbo Kingdom, Otunba (Dr.) Babatunde Rowaiye respectively.

After intense group-stage matches, Japara was eliminated, leaving the remaining towns to compete for top honors.

Third Place Match

Ojowo vs Oke Sopen
Date: June 21
Time: 12:00 PM
Venue: Shamsudeen Grammar School

The third-place clash between Ojowo and Oke Sopen ended 1–1 in regular time. Oke Sopen emerged victorious after a tense penalty shootout.

Final Match

Oke Agbo vs Atikori
Date: June 21
Time: 2:30 PM
Venue: Shamsudeen Grammar School

The final match was a nail-biting encounter between Oke Agbo and Atikori, which also ended in a 1–1 draw.

The trophy was ultimately clinched by Atikori FC after they triumphed in the penalty shootout.

A special gesture of support came from Mr. Mukaila Ola Seriki, a proud son of Ijebu Igbo based in Italy, who sponsored 15 jerseys each for both finalist teams. His contribution was aimed at fostering unity and encouraging youth participation in sports.

The third-place team received ₦150,000, the second-place team took home ₦250,000, while the champions were awarded ₦400,000.

The Orimolusi Football Cup Competition has not only showcased football talent but also served as a platform to unite the youth and promote love, peace, and community pride. Here’s to hoping it becomes an annual tradition that continues to uplift the spirit of Ijebu Igbo.
