Angry students of Gyutiev Model College, Saghev Ward in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, have reportedly set the home of their school principal, Mr. Isaac Yina, on fire.
The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Friday, June 27, is said to have been triggered by claims that the principal failed to register 178 final-year students for the 2025 NECO examination, despite allegedly collecting N85,000 from each of them.
According to a Facebook post by one Emmanuel Kash Keesha, who shared details of the incident online, the aggrieved students launched the attack after discovering they had not been enrolled for the national exam.
His post reads:
“The principal Mr. Isaac Yina of Gyutiev Model School, Ginde, Saghev Ward, Guma LGA of Benue State, has had his house set ablaze by aggressive protesters (students) whose NECO exams were not registered after collecting ₦85k from about 178 students for registration.”

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official statement from the Benue State Ministry of Education, the police, or school authorities to confirm the development.
Efforts to reach the principal or school officials for comments have so far been unsuccessful.
