The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced the introduction of new compulsory requirements for all business name online update requests, effective immediately.
In a statement released on its official X account on Wednesday, the commission said applicants must now provide additional personal and contact information to strengthen verification processes and improve the accuracy of records for registered businesses.
According to the CAC, every Business Name Online Update must now include the proprietor’s date of birth, registered office email, proprietor’s email address, phone number for the registered office or proprietor (where different), and a valid means of identification.
The commission noted that the new measures are part of ongoing reforms aimed at enhancing documentation integrity, preventing fraudulent activities, and ensuring seamless communication with business owners.
By enforcing these details, the CAC expects to streamline its database, improve compliance checks, and deliver more secure and efficient services to entrepreneurs nationwide.
Business proprietors were advised to adhere to the updated guidelines to avoid delays in processing their requests.
The CAC is Nigeria’s regulatory body responsible for the registration and oversight of companies and business names. In recent years, the commission has intensified efforts to modernise its operations, transitioning from manual procedures to a fully online platform to simplify registration and post-registration processes for businesses across the country.
