Ogun @ 50: Ijebu North LG Celebrates with Governor Dapo Abiodun in Grand Style

The Chairman of Ijebu North Local Government, Hon. Dr. Omobolaji Odusanya, FCIA, FCIPPPMP, joined other eminent leaders and residents in celebrating His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, Governor of Ogun State, as the state marked its 50th anniversary.

The colourful celebration took place at the Ijebu North Local Government Secretariat, Ijebu-Igbo, and attracted top government officials, political leaders, religious stakeholders, community representatives and members of the public.

The programme commenced with an opening prayer by Chief of Imam of Ijebu Igbo and remark with warm welcome address delivered by the Secretary of the Local Government, who appreciated the presence of dignitaries and guests while highlighting the importance of Ogun State at 50.

Among the distinguished personalities present were Senator Adegbenga Kaka, former Deputy Governor of Ogun State; Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, Secretary to the State Government; Hon. Joseph Folorunsho Adegbesan, Member, House of Representatives (Ijebu North/Ijebu East/Ogun Waterside); Alhaji Tele Ogunjobi, Director of Finance, South-West Development Commission; Otunba Babatunde Ipaye, former Commissioner for Health, Ogun State, and consultant to UNICEF, World Bank and WHO.

Others in attendance included the Vice Chairman of Ijebu North Local Government, Hon. Adeland, leaders of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the League of Imams, Ijebu North Comrade Shobowale Badejo, Speaker Hon. Adeyemi (GLO 1), Hon. Akilo (GLO 2), Hon Abass Olanrewaju, Immediate Leader of the House, Ijebu North Legislative Council and all ward councillors and several other notable dignitaries.

Goodwill messages and speeches were delivered by Senator Adegbenga Kaka, Hon. Joseph Adegbesan, Alhaji Tele Ogunjobi, and Dr. Babatunde Ipaye, who all commended the leadership of Governor Dapo Abiodun and reflected on Ogun State’s journey, achievements, and prospects over the past five decades.

As part of the celebration, the Ijebu North Local Government, under the leadership of Hon. Dr. Omobolaji Odusanya, empowered transporters within the council area with safety helmets. Notebooks containing documented developmental projects of Governor Dapo Abiodun in Ijebu North and Ijebu North Local Government Chairman Hon Bolaji Odusanya were distributed, alongside exercise books for students, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to safety, education and grassroots development.

The event was further enlivened by performances from a live band, which thrilled the audience with energetic and melodious songs, adding colour and excitement to the celebration.

The programme ended on a high note, filled with joy, unity and renewed hope for continued progress in Ogun State.
