Twenty-five members of the Osun State House of Assembly, previously elected on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), have formally joined the Accord party.
The defection was announced during a parliamentary meeting, with the lawmakers citing a desire for a more inclusive and people-centred platform to serve the people of Osun State.
According to a statement by the speaker’s Chief Press Secretary, Olamide Tiamiyu, the Osun Assembly members had resigned from the PDP weeks ago and, following consultations, decided to align with Accord.
He said they believe the party reflects the values they hold dear and provides a stable platform for advancing the collective interests of the people and sustaining development in the state.
According to him, thelawmakers have pledged their support for Governor Ademola Adeleke, committing to quality representation, transparency, and responsive leadership.
“They urged their supporters to join them in this new chapter, saying their decision aims to ensure continuity in governance and accelerate development for Osun State.
“The formal declaration was made at a meeting with Governor Adeleke and top Accord leaders, where the lawmakers reaffirmed their unwavering support for the governor,” he submitted
