An Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court in Ikeja has sentenced Victor Dickson to life imprisonment for the assault of a six-month-old baby. The judgment was delivered on April 13, 2026, by Justice Rahman Oshodi.
The court found that the prosecution proved the case beyond a reasonable doubt, relying on strong circumstantial evidence that clearly established the defendant’s guilt.
The judge noted that the convict’s attempts to deny involvement were not convincing.
During the trial, the child’s mother testified that the incident occurred when the defendant took the baby into his room while she was briefly outside attending to chores.
Justice Oshodi emphasised the vulnerability of the victim and described the act as a serious breach of trust.
He stated that the court must ensure justice is served while also discouraging similar offenses in society.
The court further ordered that the convict’s name be entered into the Lagos State Sex Offenders Register, in accordance with relevant laws guiding sexual and domestic violence cases.
The judgment reinforces the importance of speaking up against abuse and protecting vulnerable members of society, especially children.
