Two staff members of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) from the Sagamu/Ikenne Business Unit have been kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Ogunmakin area along Ibadan-Ijebu expressway, Ogun State.
The incident happened on April 29, 2026, while the workers were carrying out official duties for the company.
The kidnappers are demanding a total ransom of N300m to N70m for each victim. Despite ongoing talks with the families, the amount has not been reduced.
According to family members, the abductors contacted them using one of the victim’s phones. During a recent video call with his wife, both victims were seen badly beaten and in poor condition. Their families fear for their lives if urgent help does not come.
One of the victims is reported to be a relative of the source of this report. The family described the situation as heartbreaking and said the victims are suffering serious injuries.

The families also claimed that when they informed IBEDC headquarters, they were told to handle the situation themselves, with the company allegedly saying it was not their responsibility.
This has raised concerns, as the workers were said to be on official duty at the time of the attack.
The families are calling on security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, DSS, and Amotekun Corps, to act quickly and rescue the victims.
They also appealed to the Ogun State Government and the Federal Ministry of Power to step in and ensure the safe return of the workers.
The families are urging the public to share the information widely to attract attention and speed up rescue efforts.
