Comedian Aderombi Adedayo Martin, popularly known as Deeone, has claimed that a court has delivered a ruling in the defamation case involving social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse, widely called VDM, and Mr Jollof’s wife.
The case stemmed from a lawsuit filed by Mr Jollof’s wife after VDM accused her of infidelity, allegedly sharing the name of a hotel and suggesting she was seen there. The claims, which were repeatedly circulated online, led to legal action for alleged defamation of character.
In a video posted on his Instagram page, Deeone announced that the matter had been concluded, stating that the court had found VDM guilty of defamation. He further alleged that the court ordered him to retract his statements and issue a public apology in two national newspapers within 14 days.
Deeone also claimed that VDM was directed to pay ₦30.5 million in damages to Mr Jollof’s wife. According to him, the breakdown includes ₦500,000 for litigation costs, ₦20 million as aggravated damages, and ₦10 million as general damages.
He went on to criticize VDM, alleging that he had been exposed and warning others against making unverified claims about people. Deeone further stated that during court proceedings, VDM failed to provide evidence to support his allegations, admitting instead that his claims were based on information he heard from someone else.
Deeone also made additional remarks about VDM’s personal circle and mocked the situation, suggesting that he was “learning the hard way” from the legal outcome.
