A respected community leader and Oluomo of Ijebu Igbo, High Chief Abinugbola, has strongly cautioned the people of Ijebu Igbo against supporting or voting for individuals allegedly linked with cultism and hooliganism in any political process.
Speaking passionately on the need to protect the peace, integrity and reputation of the town, the respected chief emphasized that people with questionable character and open association with cult groups should never be allowed to represent the people politically.
According to him:
“It is imperative to hit the nail on the head. As the Oluomo of Ijebu Igbo, I strongly believe that those who have openly associated with, or are active members of cult groups, must never be allowed to represent us politically.
Voting for individuals of questionable character should be totally discouraged. May God never return us to the dark days of hooliganism, violence and cultism in Ijebu Igbo.
We must never allow anyone who openly disrespects and assassinates the character of our revered Obas and leaders to have a political voice over our people.
Allowing such individuals into leadership positions is nothing but glorifying and encouraging hooliganism and gangsterism within Ijebu Igbo.
On this note, I advise the electorate to choose leaders with known sources of income, proven good character, and the capacity to be worthy ambassadors of our land.
No matter the propaganda or political noise surrounding such individuals, their candidacy remains dead on arrival in the hearts of well-meaning sons and daughters of Ijebu Igbo.”
