As preparations intensify for the much-anticipated Ojude Oba Orimolusi celebration, the Oluomo of Ijebu Igbo has called on youths and indigenes of the community to celebrate responsibly and prioritize safety throughout the festive period.
In a public message released ahead of the cultural event, the respected community leader advised residents and visitors to avoid reckless driving, excessive alcohol consumption and all forms of dangerous behavior capable of causing loss of lives or jeopardizing the future of young people.
According to him, temporary excitement should never lead to lifelong regret, stressing that the essence of the celebration is to promote joy, unity, culture and communal pride.
He further urged everyone attending the celebration to remain alert, respect one another and place the value of human life above all forms of enjoyment during the festivities.
“Ojude Oba is a season of joy, culture, unity, and pride. Let us celebrate responsibly and return home safely to our families,” he stated.
The Oluomo also encouraged motorists to drive carefully and advised youths to shun violence and any activity capable of disrupting the peaceful atmosphere of the celebration.
He concluded his message with a prayer for a peaceful and successful celebration, saying, “Odun ayo la ma se.”
The annual Ojude Oba Orimolusi celebration remains one of the most significant cultural gatherings in Ijebu Igbo, attracting indigenes, visitors and dignitaries from different parts of Nigeria and beyond.
