The ancient town of Ijebu-Igbo came alive with pomp, pageantry and vibrant cultural expressions on May 29, 2026, as sons and daughters of the community gathered at the prestigious Orimolusi Palace for the annual Ojude Oba Orimolusi Festival.
The colorful celebration brought together various Regberegbe age groups from across Nigeria and the diaspora to pay homage to His Royal Majesty, Alayeluwa Oba Lawrence Jaiyeoba Adebajo, Ojuromi VI, the Orimolusi of Ijebu-Igbo and Paramount Ruler of Ijebu-Igbo, alongside other revered traditional rulers, political and religious leaders in attendance.
Among the standout groups at this year’s festival was Egbe Bobagunwa Orimolusi Okunrin ati Obinrin (1980, 1981, and 1982 set), which captivated spectators with its elegant appearance, coordinated attire and remarkable display of unity. Their presence added glamour, prestige and cultural richness to the historic event.
Speaking during the celebration, the Giwa of Egbe Bobagunwa Orimolusi Okunrin ati Obinrin, Giwa Kolawole Olaniyi, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to all members for their unwavering commitment and participation. He emphasized the importance of sustaining the spirit of unity, cooperation and progress that has continued to distinguish the group over the years.
Also addressing members, the Iyalode of the group, Iyalode Asimi Omolade Abiola, commended everyone who contributed to the success of the outing. She thanked members for their dedication and support while wishing them greater achievements, prosperity and continued growth in the years ahead.
The prestigious event attracted an array of distinguished personalities, community leaders and notable figures from the Nigerian entertainment industry, including veteran actress Iya Rainbow, renowned actor Femi Branch, actress Dayo Amusa, Bimbo Akinsanya and several other prominent guests who added glamour to the occasion.
