Yoruba Actor, Akin Olaiya’s Marriage Crashes Just Months After Wedding as Hausa Wife Reportedly Leaves

Popular Nollywood actor, Akin Olaiya, has announced the dissolution of his marriage to his wife, Nafeesat Feenah Hammed, barely a few months after their wedding.
The actor made the announcement through a formal letter of marriage dissolution, stating that all efforts to salvage the union had failed after his wife reportedly left their matrimonial home and declined reconciliation moves.
According to Olaiya, the marriage was solemnised on June 29, 2025, at the Central Mosque, Sabo, Mokola, Ibadan, in the presence of both families.
He disclosed that trouble began a few months after the wedding when the couple was expected to attend an event together in Lagos. However, his wife informed him that she was no longer interested in attending the programme.
The actor said that before he returned home that day, Nafeesat had packed all her belongings and left the matrimonial home without prior notice.
“After she left, I made several attempts to reach out to her personally and also visited members of her family to resolve the issue peacefully and restore the marriage,” he stated.
Olaiya added that despite repeated interventions and reconciliation efforts, his wife consistently maintained that she was no longer interested in continuing the marriage.
“Based on her decision and continuous refusal to return or reconcile, I hereby declare that Nafisat Feenah Hammed is no longer my wife henceforth, and the marriage relationship between us is hereby considered dissolved from my end,” the actor said in the letter.
The development has generated reactions on social media, with many Nigerians expressing surprise that the marriage ended less than a year after it was contracted.
Neither Nafeesat nor her family had publicly responded to the actor’s claims as of the time of filing this report.
