Isese Activist Tani Olohun Resists Arrest, Scuffles With Police as Olubadan, Sunday Igboho Step In

Popular Isese activist, Abdulazeez Adegbola, popularly known as Tani Olohun, has reportedly resisted an attempt by police officers to arrest him, leading to a scuffle between the activist and the officers in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Tani Olohun, a prominent advocate of Yoruba traditional religion, was again thrown into the spotlight after footage of the incident emerged online, showing him sitting beside a tape while two police officers stood close to him.
The circumstances surrounding the attempted arrest and the reason the officers reportedly moved to apprehend him were not immediately clear as of the time of filing this report.
However, during the incident, a man recording the video could be heard accusing the police officers of behaving like “bandits.”
According to the man, the officers came from Ilorin, Kwara State.
He also questioned the identity of the officers and the operation, alleging that the vehicle in which they arrived did not have a visible registration number.
“The police are bandits. They came from Ilorin, Kwara State,” the man said while recording the incident.
He further alleged that the vehicle brought by the officers had no number plate, raising questions about the operation.
“The car that the police brought has no plate number,” he said.
The video showed Tani Olohun seated as the apparent attempt to arrest him unfolded, with two police officers positioned beside him.
The clothes of the officers also appeared stained, suggesting that a physical struggle may have occurred during the process of attempting to take the activist into custody.
However, according to reports, following the intervention of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, the CP of Oyo State and Chief Sunday Igboho, he was eventually freed and not taken away by anybody. The duo was later seen in a video with his family and members of his neighbourhood appreciating the aforementioned personalities.
