The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress in the 2027 election, Atiku Abubakar, has promised to reopen the land borders with neighbouring countries if elected President saying the closures had severely affected economic activities in Northern states bordering Cameroon, Chad, Niger Republic and Benin Republic.
The former Vice President spoke in response to a call by Atiku Agenda Support Group led by Emmanuel Ntekim, during a courtesy call on him in his residence in Abuja on Thursday.
According to him, many young Nigerians who depended on legitimate cross-border trade have been pushed into financial difficulties as a result of the restrictions.
He said reopening the borders would help revive cross-border commerce and restore economic opportunities for affected communities.
He should just forget about presidency. Since 1993 he has been loosing so he should sit down
