Concerned Ijebu-Igbo Youth, Olori Itun-in-Council and IBEDC Hold Meeting Over Electricity Challenges in Ijebu Igbo

The Concerned Ijebu-Igbo Youth on Wednesday held a stakeholders’ meeting with the Olori Itun-in-Council and senior officials of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) Ijebu Igbo branch to discuss the ongoing electricity challenges affecting Ijebu-Igbo.
The meeting was held at the Orimolusi Palace, Ijebu-Igbo, at about 10:00 a.m and brought together traditional representatives, youth leaders, elders and IBEDC officials.
The meeting was officially opened by the Council Secretary, Chief Ariyo, who welcomed all stakeholders and appreciated their presence.
Speaking during the meeting, Mr. Owoseni Ridwan Kakaki addressed the stakeholders on the electricity situation in Ijebu-Igbo and the need for all relevant parties to work together towards finding lasting solutions.
The Olori Itun-in-Council expressed their concern over the electricity situation and pledged their support for efforts aimed at improving power supply and promoting the development of Ijebu-Igbo.
Representatives of IBEDC were also present, including Engr. Adedeji Olayinka, Technical Engineer, Ijebu-Ode, Mr. Oluwagbenga Ayoola, IBEDC Business Manager, Ijebu-Igbo Branch, Mr. Jeje, alongside other senior officials from the company.
Also a youth leader, Prince Ogunnwa Ademola, appealed to the IBEDC management for greater support and cooperation in addressing the electricity challenges facing the community.
In his remarks, Mr. Jeje of IBEDC Ijebu-Igbo Branch explained some of the challenges surrounding transformers in the community. He highlighted transformer vandalism and damage to electricity infrastructure as some of the factors affecting electricity supply in different parts of Ijebu-Igbo.
Also speaking, Engr. Adedeji Olayinka, Technical Engineer, Ijebu-Ode, shared useful advice with the stakeholders and appreciated the Concerned Ijebu-Igbo Youth for taking steps to engage relevant authorities on the issue.
The Ijebu-Igbo Elders-in-Council Secretary, Otunba Remi Ogbanjo, encouraged the youth to continue with the movement and called for stronger support and cooperation from the council and other stakeholders.
During the meeting, several questions were raised by the youth and other stakeholders, with responses and explanations provided by the IBEDC representatives.
The meeting ended on a positive note, with all sides expressing the need for unity, cooperation and collective action to tackle the electricity challenges in Ijebu-Igbo.
The Concerned Ijebu-Igbo Youth appreciated the Ijebu-Igbo elders and the Olori Itun-in-Council for their support, presence and commitment to the development of the community.
The meeting is seen as another step towards finding sustainable solutions to the electricity challenges affecting residents, businesses, artisans, students and other members of the Ijebu-Igbo community.
