Residents of Ilesa and Molusi College Road in Oke-Sopen, Ijebu Igbo, have expressed deep appreciation following the restoration of electricity to their community after more than three years without power.
The community reportedly regained electricity today, October 1, 2026, following the provision and installation of a 500KVA transformer.
The development followed a town hall meeting organised by the Concerned Ijebu Igbo Youths, where issues affecting electricity supply across Ijebu Igbo were discussed with relevant stakeholders.
During the meeting at Ijebu Igbo town hall organized by the Concerned Ijebu Igbo Youths, Hon. Agbolade Oladapo Olayemi, popularly known as Diplomacy, the Facilitator and Hon. Ladi Adebutu were acknowledged for their contributions toward addressing the electricity challenge in the area.
Hon. Ladi Adebutu pledged to provide a new 500KVA transformer for the Ilesa/Molusi College axis, a commitment which the community says was fulfilled within the timeframe mentioned at the meeting.
The restoration has brought excitement to residents who had endured years of darkness and uncertainty over the return of electricity to their streets.
In a letter of appreciation signed by Adeyemi Adelaja Adedamola (Eleniyan) on behalf of residents of Ilesa and Molusi College Road, the community thanked the organisers of the youth initiative and those who contributed to the provision of the transformer.
