The Ogun State Police Command has announced plans to arraign three suspects before the Ago-Iwoye Magistrate Court over the alleged obstruction and assault of police officers carrying out their duties.
The suspects are 51-year-old Alaba Mulika, 21-year-old Alawode Iyanu, and 29-year-old Temitope Saliu.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, saying the investigation was carried out following a directive from the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni.
According to the police, the incident happened on September 29, 2026, when a team led by ASP Akeredolu Emmanuel stopped an unregistered Toyota Camry at Fibigbade Street, Ago-Iwoye.
The police said that while officers were taking the vehicle to the station, a Toyota Highlander with registration number JJJ 215 JV allegedly blocked their movement at Abobi Street.
A confrontation reportedly followed, during which INSPR Abolarinwa Wasiu and CPL Olubamiro Adeniyi were allegedly assaulted.
The command said video recordings of the incident, which were later shared on social media, were also reviewed as part of the investigation.
Following the Commissioner of Police’s directive, detectives visited the scene, gathered information and investigated the circumstances surrounding the incident. The three suspects were subsequently arrested.
The suspects are expected to face five counts, including conspiracy, obstruction of police officers, alleged serious assault on police officers and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
The police command said it would continue to protect officers carrying out lawful duties and urged members of the public to report complaints through legal channels instead of engaging in physical confrontation.
The command added that further information would be released as the case progresses.
