The family of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad, has completed a private autopsy and toxicology test to determine the cause of his death
In June 2024, the Coroner’s Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, granted the family permission to do an independent autopsy and toxicology test on Mohbad.
The family had requested an independent autopsy due to the deceased’s death being suspicious in nature.
The court’s ruling follows the rejection of the previous autopsy conducted by the Lagos State Government, which was deemed inconclusive by the family.
A family source with knowledge of the matter told PUNCH Metro on Thursday that the result has been available since December.
“The private autopsy has been concluded and the result is currently with the forensic pathologist contracted by the family. The result was ready since December and the pathologist is waiting to present it in court,” the source disclosed.
Meanwhile, The Critical Thinkers Group, a collective of concerned citizens, has urged for the reopening of the coroner’s inquest into the singer’s death.
While acknowledging the completion of the family’s private autopsy and toxicology report, the group stated that the suspension of the inquiry had created worries and prolonged the hunt for answers surrounding the singer’s death.
A statement signed by the secretary of its chapter in the United States, Bossy Keno, read, “It should be noted that the inquest was suspended in September following a court order. This came after an NGO that sought to participate in the proceedings was denied by Magistrate Shotibi of the Ikorodu Magistrate Court.
“The suspension of the inquest has raised concerns among many, with growing sentiments that the delay is prolonging the search for answers.”
The group highlighted that reopening the inquest was vital to advancing the investigation and allowing the case to proceed to the High Court.
