In a historic and symbolic victory for Ijebu Igbo, the town has officially reclaimed its rightful position at the helm of the Ijebu Traditional Council (ITC).
This follows the overwhelming vote of confidence passed today by members of the Ijebu Traditional Council, entrusting His Royal Majesty, Alaiyeluwa Oba Lawrence Jaiyeoba Adebajo, the Orimolusi of Ijebu Igbo, with the responsibility of leading the Council’s affairs during the three-month mourning period for the late Awujale.
Speaking on behalf of the Ijebu Igbo Council of Obas, I extend heartfelt congratulations to Kabiyesi Orimolusi on this well-deserved recognition of leadership and trust.
This milestone was made possible through the united efforts and wisdom of the Ijebu Igbo Council of Obas particularly the strategic guidance of Sopenlukale, the elder counsel of Kegbo, the unwavering advocacy of Bejeroku and Olokine, and the intelligence contributions of Abijaparako, among others.
Their collaboration, along with support from other Obas across local governments, ensured this unprecedented achievement.
With this mandate, Orimolusi will oversee all ITC activities, including the coordination of government functions, management of salaries and allowances, and active participation in the ongoing dialogue around state creation.
It is worth recalling that Ijebu Igbo last held this esteemed position during the reign of the late Oba Joel Adeboye. Today, history repeats itself to the glory of God and the pride of Ijebu Igbo.
We extend our gratitude to all stakeholders, senior citizens, elders, sons, and daughters of Ijebu Igbo for their steadfast support. Now more than ever, we must rally behind Orimolusi with prayers and encouragement as he assumes this critical leadership role.
Thank you.
