Residents of Aba Alfa, a quiet community in the Boluwaji area of Ibadan, Oyo State, woke up to a horrific scene on Thursday morning after the brutal murder of a woman identified as Iya Dupe.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred overnight when unknown assailants, suspected to be ritualists, invaded the area and killed the victim in cold blood. Her lifeless body was discovered early in the morning with her head, breasts, and some internal organs reportedly removed.
The gruesome discovery sparked panic among residents, many of whom described the act as “wicked and barbaric.” Several community members gathered at the scene, expressing fear and anger over the growing insecurity in parts of Ibadan.
Local vigilantes and concerned youths were said to have immediately alerted the police, who later arrived to secure the scene and commence investigation. The remains of the victim were reportedly evacuated to a nearby mortuary.
The command urged residents to remain calm, maintain vigilance, and report any suspicious movement or individuals to the nearest police station.
This tragic incident adds to the growing concern over ritual-related killings across some parts of Nigeria, with many calling for stronger community policing and stiffer penalties for perpetrators.
