President Bola Tinubu has approved the deployment of 65 ambassadors to their designated host countries, following Senate confirmation of their nominations in December 2025.
A statement issued Friday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the postings cover both career and non-career envoys. The list includes 31 career diplomats and 34 political appointees.
Among the non-career ambassadors, former presidential aide Reno Omokri was assigned to Mexico, ex-Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode to Germany, former Health Minister Prof. Isaac Adewole to Canada, and former Interior Minister Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau to China.
Other notable postings include Senator Ita Enang to South Africa, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim as Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Olufemi Pedro to Australia, and Lateef Kayode Are to the United States.
Career diplomats were also deployed to key missions. Ambassador Abdussalam Habu Zayyad will serve in Senegal, Haidara Mohammed Idris in The Hague, Ayeni Adebayo Emmanuel in Belgium, and Ibrahim Danlami in Kenya.
The Presidency disclosed that some host countries have already granted agrément, the diplomatic clearance required for envoys.
The United Kingdom approved Aminu Dalhatu as High Commissioner, while France cleared Ayo Oke as ambassador.
Tinubu directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to commence induction programmes for the ambassadors-designate and high commissioners ahead of their formal deployment.
