President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has departed London, bringing to a successful close a landmark two-day State Visit to the United Kingdom the first by a Nigerian leader in 37 years.
The President and First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu left the UK on Thursday, March 19, 2026, after a packed programme of ceremonial and substantive engagements that delivered concrete outcomes for Nigeria-UK relations.
In key statements, President Tinubu and British leaders described the relationship as a “partnership of equals” built on mutual benefit, shared prosperity, and strategic collaboration.
The visit underscored Nigeria’s ongoing economic reforms and the UK’s commitment to supporting infrastructure and investment in Africa’s largest economy.
The President was accompanied throughout by a high-powered delegation including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, several ministers, the National Security Adviser, and other senior officials.
