This year’s Easter celebration in Nigeria was quiet in many areas, as residents chose not to celebrate due to the current economic hardship.
Many Nigerians said the situation in the country is becoming too difficult, with the high cost of living and increase in fuel prices affecting their daily lives. Some residents expressed frustration, saying the hardship under President Bola Tinubu’s administration is becoming too much to bear.
In several communities, there were fewer celebrations compared to previous years. Families who usually mark Easter with food, outings, and gatherings stayed indoors or kept activities very simple.
Traders were also affected. Chicken sellers, who normally make high sales during Easter, complained of low patronage. Many said they could not sell as usual because people could no longer afford to buy.
Residents continue to call for urgent solutions to ease the economic pressure, as many struggle to meet basic needs during festive periods.
