Speaking on the incident, the Oluomo stated that he met the protesting students around the Sawmill area while on his way to the office, where the road had already been barricaded by the protesters.

According to him, the officer allegedly involved in the assault was a Mobile Police officer and not an officer attached to the Ijebu North Area Command.
Shortly afterwards, the road was cleared for vehicular movement, while the protesting students proceeded to the Area Command.
