Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State
The Ijebu Igbo Council of Elders (I.C.E.) on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to the Area Commander of the Ijebu Igbo Police Command, ACP Bukoye Oye, as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation and promote security in the community.
The delegation was led by the Secretary of the Council, Otunba Remi Ogunbanjo and included Mrs. Sola Sosanya, Assistant Secretary Otunba Wale Balogun, Chief Taiwo Adekoya Tijani and Chief Yinka Odeseye (Tandeska), all members of the Council of Elders.
During the familiarization visit, the delegation was warmly received by ACP Bukoye Oye, who expressed his joy and appreciation for the visit.
Speaking during the meeting, ACP Bukoye Oye commended the Ijebu Igbo Council of Elders for their continuous support and cooperation with the police. He appealed for sustained collaboration in ensuring peace, security, and development across Ijebu Igbo.
The Area Commander further assured the elders that he would continue to seek their advice and support whenever necessary, describing their contributions as vital to effective community policing and development.
ACP Bukoye Oye also expressed his gratitude to the Convener of the Council, Prof. Francis Ayodele Ogunye, as well as other members of the Council, for their unwavering support and commitment to the progress of the command.
The Council of Elders and the Area Commander also discussed the security challenges facing Ijebu Igbo and explored possible solutions and strategies for enhancing peace, safety and the overall development of the community.
Several members of the Council who were unable to attend the visit sent goodwill messages and obtained permission for their absence. They include Prof. Francis Ayodele Ogunye, Prof. Abosede Adebiyi (Vice President I, I.C.E.), Chief (Mrs.) Ibiilola Aduke Banjo Solaja (Vice President II, I.C.E.), Alhaji Abayomi Fowosere, Engr. Oluyemi S.A., Dr. Niyi Saint, Mrs. Oyewoga Rahamat and Alhaji Abdulganiyu Ayinde Fowosere.
The visit further demonstrated the strong relationship between the traditional leadership structure and security agencies in Ijebu Igbo, with both parties reaffirming their commitment to maintaining peace, safety and community development.
