LAGOS, NIGERIA – Fecund Empire, one of Nigeria’s fast-growing agribusiness companies with over $50 million in sales, has appointed media and communications expert Demola “Latchenko” Lawal as its new Group Head of Brand Strategy, Communications and Strategic Partnerships.
The appointment reflects the growing connection between media, branding and agribusiness as the company seeks to expand its presence in the global hides and skins market, an industry estimated to be worth more than $127 billion worldwide.
Lawal is the founder of Athen Media and is widely known for his work in brand strategy, public relations and digital communications. He played a key role in expanding the company’s presence in streaming and gaming at a time when Nigeria’s live-streaming market is projected to exceed $74 million.
He has also worked on several high-profile projects, including providing strategic communications support for Burna Boy’s Grammy-winning Twice As Tall album, while serving as an adviser to companies in the entertainment, media and investment sectors.
At Fecund Empire, Lawal will lead the company’s global branding, corporate communications and strategic partnerships. His responsibilities include increasing the company’s international visibility, promoting its role in the global hides and skins value chain, and expanding its business network across Nigeria and overseas.
Fecund Empire specializes in the importation and exportation of premium bovine and buffalo hides sourced mainly from Brazil and supplied to international markets through its growing global supply chain.
The company has continued to strengthen its export business at a time when Nigeria’s leather trade deficit has risen to about N173 billion, highlighting the need for stronger exports and increased global market access.
Lawal’s appointment also comes as Nigeria’s leather industry continues to attract major investment. The Lagos State Government is targeting N250 million in annual export earnings through its proposed Leather Hub, while the Nigerian Economic Summit Group estimates that local finished leather processing has the potential to generate more than $1 billion annually for the country’s economy.
Speaking on the appointment, the Chief Executive Officer of Fecund Empire, Otunba Olalekan Simon Oluwole, expressed confidence in Lawal’s ability to drive the company’s next phase of growth.
“Demola’s track record speaks for itself. We expect nothing short of greatness and excellence as he leads our brand into its next phase of growth,” the CEO said.
With his experience in strategic communications and corporate branding, Lawal is expected to help position Fecund Empire for greater international recognition, stronger partnerships and increased market expansion as the company continues to grow its footprint in the global agribusiness sector.
