Awujale of Ijebu Ode Stool: Fusengbuwa Ruling House Removes Three Leaders Over Alleged Bribery, Due Process Violations

The Fusengbuwa Ruling House in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, has removed three of its leaders over allegations of financial inducement, document manipulation and failure to follow due process in the selection of the next Awujale of Ijebu Ode and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland.
The affected leaders are the Chairman of the ruling house, Abdulateef Owoyemi his Vice-Chairman, Prof. Fassy Yusuf and the Deputy Chairman, Adeodokun Ajidagba.
Their removal was announced on Sunday, August 9, 2026, during a meeting held at the Agunsebi Family House in Ijebu Ode.
The meeting was presided over by the Secretary of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, Adeleke Adeyemi.
The decision followed the submission of a report by a Fact-Finding Committee constituted to investigate issues surrounding the process for selecting the next Awujale of Ijebuland.
The committee was chaired by Olusegun Olusoga, while Adeyemo Oduneye served as Secretary.
The committee reportedly examined allegations relating to financial inducement, manipulation of documents and concerns over the adherence to due process in the ongoing selection process.
During the meeting, the committee submitted its findings to the Secretary of the ruling house, Adeleke Adeyemi, for consideration.
The development comes amid heightened attention surrounding the vacant stool of the Awujale of Ijebuland and the process of selecting the traditional ruler who will succeed the late Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland.
The Fusengbuwa Ruling House is one of the ruling houses involved in the process of selecting the next Awujale.
The latest development is expected to generate further discussions among members of the ruling house and stakeholders in Ijebuland as the selection process continues.
