Cloth a Child Initiative Brings Smiles to Students of Fowoseje Comprehensive High School, Ago-Iwoye

Students of Fowoseje Comprehensive High School, Ago-Iwoye, Ijebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State, have received clothing support through the Cloth a Child Initiative, a personal intervention started by a teacher in the school.
The initiative was started by Mr. Olanrewaju Matilukuro, who said he noticed that some students were coming to school in torn and worn-out uniforms after he was transferred to the school in January 2026.
According to him, the poor condition of the uniforms had become a source of embarrassment for some students, with some occasionally staying away from school because of it.
Mr. Matilukuro said he decided to take action because he believes every child deserves to attend school with dignity and confidence.
He explained that the idea of the Cloth a Child Initiative was born to provide decent school uniforms for students whose families may not be able to afford new ones.
However, after assessing the number of students who needed help, he realised that the challenge was bigger than what he could handle alone. He therefore appealed to individuals and community-minded people to support the initiative.
The appeal received positive responses, leading to clothing support for students who were most in need.
Mr. Matilukuro expressed appreciation to Hon. Mrs. Hassan, Councillor representing Ward 8, Ago-Iwoye, for supporting the initiative.
He also thanked Mrs. Aina Kamiyo, whom he described as a consistent and committed sponsor of the programme.
He said the initiative is not only about providing school uniforms but also about helping students regain their confidence, encouraging regular school attendance and making them feel valued.
The renowned teacher further called on more individuals, community leaders, parents and organisations to support efforts that can remove barriers preventing children from getting a quality education.
The Cloth a Child Initiative continues to promote a simple message: when people come together to support a child, they are also investing in the child’s future.
