Two commercial buses reportedly carrying prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members from Ibadan to orientation camps in the South-East have allegedly been kidnapped.
The prospective corps members of the 2026 Batch ‘C’ Stream I reportedly boarded the buses at Samonda in Ibadan and were travelling to camps in Abia, Imo and Enugu states.
According to a woman who raised the alarm in a video circulating online, the incident allegedly occurred after the prospective corps members left Ibadan.
She claimed that a driver had confirmed the alleged abduction and that security operatives, including police and soldiers, were already working to trace the victims and their abductors.
She said: “If you know you have children that went to NYSC camp, Abia State, Imo State, Enugu State, better start coming now.”
She added: “The driver confirmed it. And the commissioner and the police and the soldier, they are already tracing the kidnappers.”
“We want to contact the soldier. We can also alert you that your children have been kidnapped.”
The 2026 Batch ‘C’ Stream I orientation exercise began on September 30, with mobilised graduates expected to report to their states of deployment. In Abia, for instance, the orientation course is scheduled to hold at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Bende.
However, the exact location of the reported incident and the number of prospective corps members allegedly taken remain unclear. There is also no official confirmation of the reported mass kidnapping from the NYSC or police in the information currently available.
The report has nonetheless generated concern online, particularly over the practice of large numbers of prospective corps members travelling to their camps around the same period.
