With his election to the Ogun State Assembly in march, Abdulrasheed Kashamu becomes the youngest member of the assembly.

Ijebu North 1 is represented by the young Kashamu of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who took his oath of office alongside 25 others in the Ogun 10th Assembly.

The late Senator Buruji Kashamu, who represented Ogun East in the 8th Senate, is the 26-year-old’s father.

In order to ensure that the Ijebu Igbo people would be properly represented in the election, Abdulrasheed pledged to maintain an open door policy for all candidates, regardless of party affiliation.

He stated, “We are entrepreneurial in Ijebu North, and my primary focus will be to create more jobs by supporting artisans, market traders, farmers, and businesses, especially youth and women, with easily accessible loans and skill acquisition programs.”

Abdulrasheed received his bachelor’s degree in international business and management from Brunel University in London.

Additionally, he graduated from the University of Surrey with a Master of Science (M. Sc.) in International Financial Management. In 2018, he received a Merit degree.

Abdulrasheed had a pleasant conversation with Governor Dapo Abiodun shortly after taking the oath of office.

The legislator also expressed gratitude to his constituents for their overwhelming support in Abeokuta.

Meanwhile, former Speaker Kunle Oluomo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was also re-elected Speaker unopposed. 

Oluomo, who represents Ifo I, was nominated by Lamidi Olatunji (Ado/Odo-Ota II), and seconded by Owodeh Waliu (PDP – Ijebu East).

Barely 48 hours after their inauguration into the 10th Ogun State House of Assembly, the principal officers of the House have been named.

Peoples Democratic Party’s Abdulrasheed Kashamu, representing Ijebu North Constituency 1, emerged as the Minority Whip of the Assembly.

The 26-year-old and his colleagues took his oath of office into the Ogun 10th Assembly on Tuesday, June 20 shortly after they elected Olakunle Oluomo (APC-Ifo 1) as the Speaker.

During Thursday’s plenary session in Abeokuta, the Speaker, Oluomo, announced the names of the assembly principal officers.

According to him, members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as well as members of the PDP in the House, agreed on consensus principal officers.

Adeniran Ademola (APC – Sagamu 11) emerged as the Deputy Majority Leader, while Omolola Bakare (APC -Ijebu Ode) was named the Chief Whip.

Babatunde Tella (APC-Abeokuta North) would be the Deputy Chief Whip. The Speaker also announced Rasheed Kashamu as the Minority Whip and Kolawole Awolaja as the Deputy Minority Whip.

Olalekan Adeleye (PDP -Odogbolu) emerged as the House Minority Leader, and then Lukmon Atobatele (PDP – Abeokuta South 1) as the Deputy Minority Leader.
