On Saturday morning, angry locals stopped the Ijebu-Ode–Mojoda–Epe Road in protest of the Ogun State Government’s increased tollgate fees.
Hundreds of people were left stuck as the demonstrators blocked the always crowded dual highway with tires and wooden boards.
Traffic movement was disrupted as the demonstration, which started along the Fari Motorway, continued into Mojoda in Epe, Lagos.
The protesters were seen chanting solidarity songs with placards.

Speaking to one of the trailer drivers, he lamented that exorbitant toll gate collection was killing their business.
“I paid N3000 just this early morning. How much are we making that they want to collect everything from us?,” The trailer driver said.
Another commercial driver said, “I am traveling but I will stay here and join them to protest.
“They have to stop embezzling money from the poor citizens of Nigeria who are struggling to survive,” Mr Odinaka said.
