Traditional rulers and key stakeholders from Ijebu Igbo on Wednesday held a strategic meeting with Gov. Dapo Abiodun to discuss pressing issues affecting the community, with a strong focus on political representation and infrastructural development.
The delegation, led by the Orimolusi of Ijebu Igbo, Alayeluwa Oba Jaiyeoba Adebajo Ojuromi VI included prominent monarchs such as Oba Sopenlukale, Oba Olokine, Oba Onimope and Oba Abijaparako. They were joined by respected political figures, including Senator Lekan Mustapha, in a united effort to advocate for the progress of the town.
During the meeting, the traditional leaders highlighted key developmental challenges facing Ijebu Igbo, particularly the need for improved road networks, provision of transformers and other essential public infrastructure. They emphasized that addressing these concerns would significantly enhance economic activities and improve the quality of life for residents.
The stakeholders also used the opportunity to discuss political matters affecting the area, stressing the importance of inclusive governance and adequate representation in decision-making processes at the state level.
Governor Abiodun, in his response, acknowledged the concerns raised and reassured the delegation of his administration’s commitment to equitable development across all parts of Ogun State. He noted that ongoing and planned projects would be aligned to meet the needs of communities like Ijebu Igbo.
The meeting is seen as a significant step toward strengthening collaboration between the state government and traditional institutions, with hopes that it will yield tangible results for the people of Ijebu Igbo in the near future.
