A 60-year-old school headmaster, Mr. Owoade Matthew Kolawole, has been abducted by suspected gunmen in Igbojaye, Itesiwaju Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening, July 11, 2026, between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., while the victim was returning home.
According to reports, the kidnappers contacted Mr. Kolawole’s family shortly after the abduction using his mobile phones and demanded N30million as ransom for his release.
Speaking on the incident, the victim’s son, Mr. Owoade Abiola, said security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, Amotekun Corps, and local vigilante groups, immediately launched a joint search operation. Despite searching throughout the night, they were unable to locate the victim.
However, at about 8:20 a.m. on Sunday, July 12, the search team recovered Mr. Kolawole’s motorcycle, which had been abandoned in a nearby bush.
The family has appealed to the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the victim safely and bring those responsible to justice.
They also urged security authorities to track the phone numbers allegedly used by the kidnappers during their ransom demands.
Anyone with useful information that could assist in the rescue operation is encouraged to contact the appropriate security agencies immediately.
