Oke-Agbo’s Sheikh Muhammad Taofiq Imran-Adesanya Confirmed as Ekerin-Adinni of Ijebu-Igbo

The Muslim community in Ijebu-Igbo witnessed a historic moment on Friday, July 31, 2026, as Alhaji Sheikh Muhammad Taofiq Imran-Adesanya from Oke-Agbo was officially presented, accepted and confirmed as the Ekerin-Adinni of Ijebu-Igbo.
The confirmation took place at the Ijebu-Igbo Central Mosque immediately after the Jumu’ah prayer, under the leadership of the Grand Chief Imam of Ijebu-Igbo, His Eminence Alhaji Sheikh Muhammad Qasim Abdul-Lateef Badejo.
Following the Friday prayer, the Ijebu-Igbo Imam-in-Council invited members of the Oke-Agbo Muslim Community to formally present their nominee for the revered Islamic title.
Speaking on behalf of the Oke-Agbo Muslim Community, Alhaji Layiwola Ajibise, the Ajanasi of Ijebu-Igbo, presented Sheikh Muhammad Taofiq Imran-Adesanya to the Chief Imam.
With the approval of members of the Imam-in-Council, the Grand Chief Imam officially accepted the nomination and publicly raised the hand of Sheikh Imran-Adesanya as a symbol of his confirmation as the new Ekerin-Adinni of Ijebu-Igbo.
The event marks a significant milestone in the history of the Ijebu-Igbo Central Mosque and further strengthens the relationship between the Central Mosque and the Oke-Agbo Muslim Community.
Community members also expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for bringing an end to years of disagreements and misunderstandings surrounding the position, a matter that had remained unresolved since 2019.
They appreciated everyone who contributed to the reconciliation process and the successful confirmation, praying that Allah rewards all those who worked for peace and unity within the Muslim community.
Special prayers were also offered for Islamic leaders in Ijebu-Igbo and across the world, asking Allah to continue to bless their leadership, strengthen unity among Muslims and accept their acts of worship.
The ceremony ended with congratulations to the newly confirmed Ekerin-Adinni of Ijebu-Igbo, Alhaji Sheikh Muhammad Taofiq Imran-Adesanya.
