Members of the Ganduje Ward in Kano State’s Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area have suspended Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Ganduje Ward Executive Council, chaired by Haruna Gwanjo, made the announcement during a news event in Kano on Monday.
Gwanjo stated that the former governor must clear his name of corruption charges related to his longstanding dollar case.
Ganduje is facing at least 8-count charges filed against him by the Kano State government under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Prosecutors allege that the couple, along with six others, are involved in “dollar bribery allegations, misappropriation of public funds, and diversion of funds totalling $413,000 and N1.38 billion.”
According to court documents, other defendants in the lawsuit include Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Ltd, Safari Textiles Ltd and Lesage General Enterprises.
