A young boy was shot and killed by Nigeria Police Force (NPF) operatives in the Kubwa area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Saturday, as the #EndBadGovernance protests entered its third day.
The shooting occurred near Zenith Bank in Kubwa, according to a report by the Daily Post.
Witnesses at the scene reported that the boy was not participating in the protests but was merely passing by when the incident happened.
An eyewitness described the boy as having been shot at close range, despite not being involved in the demonstrations.
“This boy was not part of the protesters. He was just coming by when the police, positioned elsewhere, fired at us,” the witness said.
Activist and lawyer, Barr. Deji Adeyanju condemned the shooting as an act of “unprovoked murder.”
Adeyanju criticized Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun and his officers for their actions, stating, “IGP Kayode Egbetokun and his bloodthirsty men should be held accountable for the murder of this innocent young boy, who was simply observing the protest.”
