Justice Ibrahim of the Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the remand of TikToker Shamsodium at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre over allegations of defamation against Omowunmi, the widow of late singer Mohbad.
Shamsodium faces a three-count charge of conspiracy, cyberstalking, and character assassination after allegedly displaying placards accusing Omowunmi of involvement in her husband’s death with the words, “Wunmi Kpaied Mohbad!” He pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Police investigations included a search of his residence, where evidence related to the placards was reportedly recovered. Another man found at the location was also arrested, bringing the number of suspects in custody to two.
Shamsodium’s counsel requested bail orally, citing the lack of time to file a formal application due to receiving the charges only on the day of arraignment. The judge, however, declined the oral request and directed that a written application be submitted instead.
With courts now on their annual vacation, the case has been adjourned until September 25 for trial.t
