Dede Ashiogwu, the first runner-up of the Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) ‘Ten Over Ten’ season, has debunked claims that regional sentiment influenced the show’s outcome, insisting that the winner, Imisi, earned her victory through merit.
The show’s grand finale, held on Sunday, saw Imisi clinch the N150 million grand prize. However, Ossai Ovie Success, media aide to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, alleged that Dede who is from Delta State was unfairly denied the top spot due to bias.
Ossai claimed via X that the show organizers deliberately avoided giving victory to another Delta contestant since last year’s winner, Kellyrae, was also from the state. He further stated his intention to sue Big Brother Naija on Dede’s behalf, accusing the organizers of rigging the voting process.
Speaking during the prize presentation ceremony on Tuesday at MultiChoice Nigeria’s office in Lagos, Dede dismissed the allegations, emphasizing that Imisi’s win reflected the audience’s choice.
“I don’t think it had anything to do with region. It’s about votes and she got the highest votes, and she won. So, she deserves it,” she said.
The reality star added that she is now focused on pursuing a career in the entertainment industry, particularly acting and other creative ventures.
