Mother and Sons Speak After Father’s Drunken Assault Leaves Children Severely Injured at Odorasoyin area in Ijebu-Igbo

A heartbreaking development continues to unfold in the Odorasoyin area of Oke Sopen, Ijebu-Igbo, after a father, Gbadamosi Sikiru popularly known as Sukochi, violently assaulted his two young sons leaving them with severe injuries.

MarvelTvUpdates team with MC Jazzy visited the family, and in an exclusive interview, the 13-year-old son, Gbadamosi Basit, a JSS3 student of Molusi College, was the first to narrate how the terrifying incident happened. The younger sibling, a Primary 2 pupil at Femland School, also suffered injuries during the attack.

According to the 13-year-old boy, their father returned home drunk and suddenly began beating them without mercy. His account was painful, emotional, and difficult to listen to, especially coming from a child who survived such brutality.

The incident occurred on Thursday evening when he locked the room and began beating his sons mercilessly. Neighbors, hearing the children’s screams, had to break down the door to rescue them from his violent assault.

Their mother later explained that she was not home when the assault happened. She had gone to the market, and while on her way back, neighbors urgently reached out to her, informing her of the incident. Shocked and terrified, she rushed home only to discover that her children had already been rushed to the hospital.

At the hospital, doctors confirmed the severity of the injuries. The older boy, Basit, had to undergo scans, and his head and hand were stitched due to deep wounds inflicted during the beating. The younger child was also treated for injuries sustained during the attack.

The father, Sukanmi Sukochi, fled immediately after the assault and is currently nowhere to be found.

Now left alone to care for her three children, their mother is struggling emotionally and financially to manage the situation. The trauma these boys endured demands urgent medical attention, psychological support, and protection.

They further explained that this isn’t the first incident whenever he gets drunk, he brutally assaults them.

We call on well-meaning Nigerians, child protection agencies, NGOs, community leaders, and government authorities to come to the aid of this family. These innocent children deserve safety, healing, and support.
