The Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Engr. Mrs. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, represented Governor Dapo Abiodun at the official commissioning of the new Police Area Command in Ijebu-Igbo.
The event also included the opening of a new police station in Japara. The Ijebu-Igbo Area Command is now the 14th Area Command in Ogun State. The new Area Commander is ACP Bukoye Oye.
In her address, the Deputy Governor said the project was made possible through the joint efforts of private citizens, politicians, community leaders, and artisans. She explained that Ijebu-Igbo is one of the largest and most active towns in the state and deserves strong security infrastructure that matches its size and importance.
She added that the new Area Command will improve security in the area and create a safer environment for businesses, cultural activities, and daily life to grow.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre, called on the people of Ijebu North Local Government to support the new command and cooperate fully with the police to ensure peace and safety.
The Orimolusi of Ijebu-Igbo, His Royal Majesty Oba Lawrence Jaiyeoba Adebajo OJUROMI VI, thanked everyone who attended the historic event and appreciated those who contributed to the success of the project.
Many dignitaries were present, including Professor Ayo Ogunye, Senator Lekan Mustapha, the Oba Oloru of Oru, the Oluomo of Ijebu-Igbo Alhaji High Chief Lawal Olawale Abinugbola, the Gbobaniyi of Ijebu-Igbo, INLG Chairman Hon. Dr. Bolaji Odusanya, DPO of Topon Police Station ACP Kolade Oladejo, Otunba Aderemi Ogunbanjo, traditional rulers, market leaders, security officers, and other important guests.

Ijebu-Igbo was filled with joy as residents came out in large numbers to celebrate. Many people expressed happiness and hope that improved security will help banking activities and businesses grow in the town.
